Why we make hats
Hi, I'm Ryan. My wife Kylie and I started Single Track Hats here in Phoenix.
I grew up in Australia, and some of my best memories are of camping on the river with my family. My dad loved camping and being outdoors, and he passed that on to all of us. He died of cancer in February 2025.
Losing him changed how I think about time, and about looking out for yourself while you're out doing the things you love.
In Australia, sun safety gets drilled into you as a kid: slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat. Arizona isn't much different. The sun here doesn't take a day off. On the trail, at the trailhead or down at the river, a good hat is one of the simplest ways to protect yourself. But people only wear a hat they like. So that's what we set out to make: hats you actually want to put on, that keep the sun off your face and neck while you're out there.

Kylie and I run Single Track Hats together. We came here from Australia in 2015, and we think the USA is the greatest country on earth. We feel blessed to live here and to build our business here.
Every hat we sell is finished in our shop in Phoenix. We laser-engrave the leather patches, run the embroidery and press every order by hand, so when you order from us you're dealing with real people who care how it turns out.
Some of you buy one hat for yourself. Some of you outfit a whole crew, team or business. Either way, you're helping a small family business grow and putting more people under a brim. That means a lot to us.
So slap on a hat, look out for yourself, and get outside. Dad would have liked that.
